Landscape Development for Rowing Channel at CME Campus, Khadki ,Pune.

The second Year M.Arch students had an opportunity to participate in the competition hosted by College of Military Engineering, Pune, for the Landscape development of the Rowing channel at the CME Campus, Khadki Pune.The area of the CME campus is 3600acres and the delineated area for Landscape development and 660 acres of area was selected for detailed landscape design proposal. The CME campus has an historical as well as ecological significance with the ‘Sarvatra Bird sanctury’ located in the heart of the campus.

Joint Study on Forts of Maharashtra

This was a 7 day joint workshop organized by BNCA, for students of first year of BNCA and SPA, Delhi – Departments of Landscape Architecture.
It gave an opportunity to students to hear to experts who have worked extensively on forts like Historians, Archeologists ,BISM experts, Geologist and Botanist. Students also visited 3 types of forts – Land fort – Daulatabad fort, Sea fort – Janjira fort and Hill fort – Raigad fort and conducted necessary surveys.

ABOUT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
'Landscape Architecture' deals with concerns and concepts related to pure nature, nature-man relationship and man made environments. It elaborates on their various forms at micro to macro Level.
Landscape Architecture has a 'history' a 'present' and a 'future', which reveal man's response to nature from the past till present. It evolves through time. The essential dimension of Landscape Architecture is the dimension of time.
Landscape Architecture encompasses aspects such as ecology, environmental up gradation, industrial landscapes, wasteland management, forest landscapes, urban landscapes, recreational and residential landscapes, green belts, roadscapes, cultural and historic landscapes and so on...
THE MISSION AND COURSE OBJECTIVE
As an effect of Globalisation, Fast rate of Urban Development, Landscape Architecture is getting redefined due to changing environmental, cultural, economic contexts and artistic temperaments. The profession is trying to seek new imagery, new meanings and new relevance . Gardens, Parks, Plazas, and public spaces though remain traditional domains of landscape architects,world over challenges of global warming, depleting resources, rising water levels, eroding hillslopes, landslides, urban landfills, huge quarried areas, degraded and disturbed landscapes are making the landscape architect expand his role in further bettering the environment.Complex building systems, problems like scarcity of land, poor soil quality, water paucity and large scale private and public works and infrastructure developments are demanding the landscape architects not to be just good conceptualizers and designers ,but also abreast with technology and managerial skills.
This course imparts a valuable sense of responsibility towards our nature and culture relationship throughout past till present. Students of this course are encouraged to design in response to Landscapes in Indian context. The course addresses the issue of global identity and local/ regional identity in the field of landscape architecture.
Our 2 years rigorous full time course teaches you new tools and techniques and equips you to face the future challenges of the profession. We believe in giving you hands-on experience and its our constant effort to avail varied scale live projects through which you learn to successfully deal with complex urban ecological and environmental issues and generate a sustainable landscape model for the future generations to enjoy and proudly boast of. SHORT TERM (6 months) CERTIFICATE COURSES IN ‘GARDEN HORTICULTURE AND MAINTENANCE’ AND ‘ GARDEN DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT’

INTRODUCTION

Gardening is an art which also requires technical know-how about various aspects related to plant material, hardscape techniques, horticulture techniques and space designing for various activities. This is a part time autonomous course by MKSSS’s Dr. B N college of Architecture, Pune, which offers a valuable opportunity for those who are fond of gardening, who want to develop their own garden and the ones who want to develop it as a hobby as well as a source of income by practicing these techniques.

OBJECTIVE

To provide practical training as well as theoretical knowledge about garden development and maintenance

To give an off-hand gardening experience through site visits and demonstrations to develop self employment opportunities.
TIME AND DURATION OF THE COURSES

1) Garden horticulture and maintenance (32 DAYS) JULY TO OCTOBER

2) Garden Design and Development (32 DAYS) JAN TO APRIL

Certificate from Dr. B N College of Architecture for Women , will be awarded to the participant student at the end of each module, after successfully completing the respective contents.

These courses are open only to female candidates.

Those who have background like B.Sc or M.sc in Agriculture, Botany, horticulture or who are professionals like architects, interior designers or those who run the nursery and who have base knowledge about plant material, garden material, methods of propogation etc. can directly take up the second course - ‘ GARDEN DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT’

Can those working in offices or practicing on their own do this course simultaneously?

The schedule of the course is organized in such a way that the course could be completed while you continue your main job or activities as it is a part time course run on weekends.
